BPSD are common and distressing symptoms.
There is some disagreement as to which symptoms should be
included as BPSD and few studies examine qualitative or contextual
aspects of their occurrence. We report the findings of a survey
of BPSD in clinical practice in twelve centres in Europe.
A consecutive series of twenty patients from each centre was
examined.
The survey used a questionnaire to examine
in the context of caring and symptoms not included in the
standard measure of BPSD, the NPI. Quality of life was examined
in both sufferers and their carers by the AD-QOL.
